Beardsley (1872 - 1898) was an English artist and illustrator
whose work was influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and
Japanese prints. His illustrations are characterised
by linear arabesque with an emphasis on flat areas of
black and white; they typify the stylistic and aesthetic
considerations of art nouveau.
